NECO Announces Complete Payment to 72,138 Examiners for 2024 SSCE

Gbadamosi Azeezah

The National Examinations Council (NECO) announced on Wednesday that it has finalized payments for the allowances of 72,138 examiners who served as ad hoc staff during the 2024 School-Based Senior School Certificate Examination.

In a statement from Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, NECO confirmed that payment processing began on October 4, 2024, using a bank-by-bank approach to ensure efficient reconciliation.

As of November 13, all examiners have received their payments according to the Council's established plan.

The Council acknowledged that some examiners initially submitted incorrect bank details, but these issues have since been resolved. Payments have now been successfully processed through all 24 banks involved.

In light of recent unrest among examiners regarding unpaid allowances, NECO refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that it had intentionally withheld payments. The Council urged individuals to seek clarification directly from NECO on any concerns before turning to the media.
