Operation HADIN KAI, the military task force, reported that explosions occurred at three high-traffic areas. the Post Office area, Monday Market axis and the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

According to the statement, the perpetrators set off improvised explosive devices across three different locations within the city and described the incident as “cowardly attacks” targeted at crowded public places.

Officials stated that the explosions were designed to cause mass casualties and create fear within the metropolis.

Response teams, including the military personnel and police bomb disposal unit, immediately arrived to secure the areas.

“Troops… responded promptly to the incident and quickly secured and locked down the affected areas to prevent further danger,” the statement said.

Emergency workers, including the National Emergency Management Agency, transported the victims to hospitals across the city.

Healthcare professionals are treating those who sustained injury, while recovery operations are still ongoing.

Officials warned that more assistants may have been deployed into the city.

“The official reports noted that the terrorists may have sent multiple suicide bombers,” the statement said.

The public have been urged to remain vigilant and avoid populated areas and report “any suspicious persons, unattended items or unusual activities.”

The military stated it is stepping up patrols and monitoring efforts to prevent further attacks and bring those responsible to justice.
