Ghanaian IT Specialist Must Take Advantage of AI – Selorm Branttie

Policy analyst is encouraging IT specialists in Ghana to capitalise on Artificial Intellegence

A policy analyst, Selorm Branttie has asked IT specialists in the country to capitalise on the emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) space in order for Ghana not to lag behind in the space.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, the analyst said the time has come for digitally savvy individuals to explore and create models that will sell and analyze the “Ghanaian stories better.”

“I mean if everybody is going to rely on ChatGPT and the others when you input a Ghanaian taxi, the AI will pick a Toyota Corolla instead of something else and it would create the wrong impression because of course we have not been able to build the systems that are right enough to bring the correct data that can be used to make decisions.

“So, there is a lot of work there when it comes to the fundamentals in terms of the type of data that we collect and the types of models that we would build,” he said on Wednesday.

Mr. Branttie was of the different view that the AI system will render lots of people jobless.

For him, he saw the space as an opportunity for people to capitalise on.

In his view, every country or continent would require a different model, hence, Ghanaians could invest in the sector and produce suitable models.
