The Super Falcons of Nigeria managed to hold the Republic of Ireland to a 0-0 draw, securing their spot in the round of 16 of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Falcons' goalkeeper, handled numerous offensive opportunities from the Republic of Ireland calmly and well, including a shot by Katie McCabe in the fifth minute.

Nigeria's attacker Asisat Oshoala had the game's best effort in the 14th minute, but the shot missed the target.

Oshoala received a beautiful feed from Uchenna Kanu and connected with an excellent first touch, but her shot was off target and went past the left post.

Nigeria's next opponent in Brisbane will be the group D winner, who might be England if they tie or defeat China on Tuesday.

For the first time ever, the Falcons won all three of their games during the group round.

They became the first African team to advance to the round of 16 in the ongoing 2023 Women's World Cup.
