Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, who returned to Serie A a few days after winning Euro 2024, has signed a contract with AC Milan on Friday, leaving Atletico Madrid.

The 31-year-old has agreed to a four-year contract with Milan, having been brought in to take Olivier Giroud's place after the former France international moved to Los Angeles FC.

According to a statement from Milan, Morata has signed with the Rossoneri until June 30, 2028, with the possibility to extend for one extra year.

Milan reportedly fulfilled Morata's $14.2 million ($13 million) release clause, and the player will make about 4.5 million euros a season, according to Italian media.

In 80 international games for his nation, he has scored 36 goals.

Morata returns to Italy after spending two seasons with Milan's rivals Juventus, where he won two league titles and three Italian Cups.

Along with winning the FA Cup with Chelsea, Morata was a part of Real Madrid's two championship runs in the Champions League, in 2014 and 2017.

Milan, who finished second in Serie A last season but behind winners Inter Milan by 19 points, will face Torino on August 17 in their first league game under new coach Paulo Fonseca.
