Reports have confirmed the death of former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo.
Eneramo slumped and died while playing a football match in Kaduna State.
The Super Eagles star was said to be featuring at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the television area of Kaduna when the incident took place.
The former international came on as a substitute in the second half before collapsing without any contact.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a source said, “He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
“He was pronounced dead at the hospital.”
Eneramo played for Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, side Lobi Stars before moving abroad, where he began his professional career with Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
The Super Eagles striker played mostly in Turkey for clubs like Sivasspor, Beşiktaş, Karabükspor, Istanbul Başakşehir, and Manisaspor.
Before Eneramo’s passing, he was said to be managing a football academy.
Nigeria’s national football team has reacted to the death of the former striker. On Friday, sharing his picture on their official handle, the Eagles wrote, "Rest in peace, Michael.”
