FIFA's redesigned Club World Cup, due to feature 32 teams in 2025, will be played from June 15 to July 13, while a new Intercontinental Cup will be played yearly beginning next year, according to Gianni Infantino, the leader of world football's governing organization, on Sunday.

FIFA unanimously decided to designate the United States as the event's host country when they announced an expanded Club World Cup earlier this year.

The Council convened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to approve the Club World Cup dates and to confirm that the winner of the UEFA Champions League will face a team that advances through the intercontinental playoffs in the Intercontinental Cup the following year.

“The tournament will feature all current confederation premier club competition champions,” Infantino said.
