Armed Robbers Attack Ghana’s Wheelchair Tennis Team In Nigeria

Team members were attacked, assaulted and robbed Ogun State, Nigeria

Ghana’s Wheelchair Tennis team was attacked and robbed by armed robbers while returning home from Abuja-Nigeria, after participating in the 2023 ITF World Team Cup Africa Qualifiers tournament, slated between 8th and 12th February 2023.

The robbery occurred at Ogun State in Nigeria at the dawn of Tuesday February 14, 2023.

The robbers broke through the vehicle’s windshield, assaulted the players and made away with the valuable belongings of the team.

Three members of the team's sustained various degrees of injury and were sent to the hospital for treatment.

The team members included, Daniel Laryea, Razak Baba Abdul, Bernard Yawson, Bridget Nartey, Issah Zenabu, Stacy Mensah Konadu, and Coach Philip Plange.
