After leaving Manchester United this summer, English striker Alessia Russo has finalized a free transfer to Arsenal.

In January, United turned down two record-breaking offers from Arsenal, with the second one reportedly close to £500,000.

Before the transfer was finished, Russo turned down many contract extension offers from United and left the team after three years.

“I want to win trophies – as does everyone in this club,” said Russo.

“I can’t wait to get stuck in and grow as a player. It’s a new challenge and a new environment.

“I think the growth of the women’s game has been incredible, particularly at a club like Arsenal.

“The sellout against Wolfsburg at Emirates Stadium last season was fantastic. I’m just really excited to be part of this club.”

The winner of Euro 2022, who is a member of the England team travelling to the Women's World Cup this month, joins attacker Cloe Lacasse from Benfica and defender Amanda Ilestedt from Paris St-Germain as Arsenal's third summer additions.
