On Sunday, the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, announced that his administration had taken steps to save money and minimize the expense of government.

Otti revealed this during his monthly interactive media session at Umuahia's Government House.

In addition to paying salaries and pensions, the governor claimed that his government was able to mobilize contractors to the site of ongoing major developmental projects because of the money saved from frivolous expenditure by previous governments.

“We have been able to save money from FAAC by stopping frivolous expenses such as paying a certain amount of money to ‘stakeholders’.

“In the new Abia, if you want to get money, then you have to work and earn money,” Otti said.

According to Otti, the current administration is concentrating on financial reengineering to make sure that state resources are managed appropriately by experts for the greatest outcomes.

The state's populace was reassured by the governor that their money was in capable hands.
