On Thursday, Nigeria and the United States signed a contract for the repatriation of $954,000, which was one of the looted assets retrieved from Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, the late former governor of Bayelsa State.

Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, the Federal Ministry of Justice's Permanent Secretary and the country's Solicitor General, and Mary Beth Leonard, the US Ambassador to Nigeria, both signed on behalf of Nigeria.

Mrs. Jedy-Agba said during the event at the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the repatriation cash to be used to upgrade the healthcare facilities in the state of Bayelsa.

She said that the $954000 came from investing and real estate funds in Massachusetts and Maryland.
