Tinubu Inaugurates Agricultural and Aviation Projects in Minna

Former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida officially opened the airport on June 20, 1990.

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, inaugurated the Minna International Airport, agro-processing zone, and agricultural equipment which was renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport by the Niger state governor, Umar Bago, on Friday in Minna .

According to reports, former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida officially opened the airport on June 20, 1990.

Approximately 2,000 hectares would be utilized for the agro-processing zone project, 1,000 hectares for greenhouses and drip irrigation, and another 1,000 hectares for the processing of dairy products.

“Niger State sells an average of half a million cattle to Nigerians and people outside Nigeria daily.

“We don’t need to transport these cattle by road. You can take frozen meat from the airport anywhere, and it will create employment, and enhance the value chain", Governor Bago Said.

He continued by saying that 140 kilometres or so of water irrigation channels are being built from Shiroro Dam to the location. The first part of this ambitious 50-year project will be completed in the coming years.

He stated that this airport will receive 80 megawatts of power.
