Several attempts have been made to stop me—Tinubu

On Wednesday, All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu said he had evidence that there was a plot to sabotage the elections.

Asiwaju Tinubu blamed lingering fuel shortages and the Central Bank of Nigeria's decision to redesign the currency on a plot to foil his expected victory in the election.

The APC standard bearer addressed party officials and supporters during the APC presidential campaign rally at MKO Abiola stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party and oil marketers faulted these allegations.

Tinubu's criticisms of the rival party were merely an attempt to divert attention from his party's own shortcomings, according to members of the PDP.

In his native Yoruba, former Lagos State Governor Ahmed Tinubu Fashola reminded the voters that the opposition does not want elections to go forward. "Will you allow them?" he asked.

Despite the fuel shortage, He encouraged Nigerians to defy it in order to exercise their rights at the polls. Such a move would be revolutionary.

“They have started coming up with the issue of ‘no fuel’. Don’t worry, if there is no fuel, we will trek to cast the vote.

“If you like, increase the price of fuel, hide the fuel or change the ink on the naira notes, we will win the election. We will use our PVCs (permanent voter cards) to take over the government from them; if they like, let them say there is no fuel, we will trek there (polling booths).

“They are full of mischief, they want to create a fuel crisis, they have started creating a fuel crisis, but, forget about it, put your mind at rest, I’m assuring you. I, Asiwaju will end fuel scarcity.

“Let the price of fuel continue to increase, they are the ones that know where they are hoarding it. They are hoarding naira notes, they are hoarding fuel, we will vote and we will win.

“If you like, change the ink in the naira note, we will win the election, the opposition will be defeated.”

Addressing the crowds of young people who came to see him, a former governor from Lagos promised that if he were elected again in February he would put an end to strikes within the university system.

He also promised to ensure that no student would have to spend an extra year on any course.

He said “I’m a youth, I’m here for you and you will not be put to shame. We will take over the government from them; they are traitors that want to wrest the government from us.

“This is a revolution, this election is a revolution. They are creating artificial fuel scarcity, they are saying they want to increase fuel price to N200, but let your mind be at rest, we will end fuel scarcity, we will end fuel crisis.

Great youths, I’m assuring you one thing: there will be student loans, nobody will drop out of the university because of school fees.

“I guarantee you that. Nobody will have to repeat class for eight years and not graduate, we are too smart, we are brilliant, we are courageous, we are sharp, we will make a four-year course a four-year course. Do you agree?  Will you vote? Whether there is fuel or not, call your sisters.”

Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, assured APC’s standard bearer that he would receive 100 percent support from the state. But in addition to this promise, Abiodun said Tinubu was a better choice than any other candidate for Nigeria at this time period.

Governor Abiodun urged the people of the state to go all out and claim their permanent voter cards, because "the candidates of the APC are really the best."
