Of the 32 members of the Rivers Assembly, twenty-four have signed a document that calls for Governor Siminialayi Fubara to be impeached.

After impeaching and suspending House Leader Edison Ehie, who is thought to be on the governor's side, they served Fubara with an impeachment notice.

The lawmakers made these decisions on Monday morning during an emergency meeting.

On Monday, an unusual sitting took place from 7 to 9 a.m.

Newsmen learned that all 24 of the members who signed the impeachment notice were present, despite the fact that journalists were not allowed to cover the meeting.

Ehie didn't attend the meeting, but he and the governor entered afterwards.

But before Fubara and Ehie gained entrance, the lawmakers had already left the Assembly premises through the second gate, signaling the end of the action.
