Over 500 Lawyers Rally Against EFCC's Actions On Yahaya Bello

In a show of solidarity, more than 500 legal professionals gathered at the Supreme Court on Monday to condemn what they describe as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) infringement on the fundamental rights of former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello.

Led by co-convener S.K Alewu, the legal fraternity expressed outrage over the EFCC's alleged illegal tactics, particularly in its attempts to apprehend Bello despite a valid court order explicitly prohibiting such actions.

Alewu emphasized that Bello's rights have been flagrantly violated, and he pointed fingers at the judiciary, accusing it of being complicit in undermining the rule of law.

Calling upon the Nigerian Judicial Council and President Bola Tinubu for intervention, the lawyers demanded immediate action to rein in the EFCC and put an end to what they perceive as the agency's disregard for judicial processes and court orders.
