The Ogun State Government has initiated the demolition of shanties and other structures near schools and markets in Abeokuta, the state capital. 

According to newsmen, this demolition is part of the "Safe School Initiative," aimed at ensuring "adequate security and a conducive teaching and learning environment for students." 

The task force, led by Farooq Akintunde, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun, carried out the exercise in Kuto, Idi-Aba, Oke Ijeun, and Panseke, all located in Abeokuta.
