Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq officially inaugurated the newly elected chairpersons and vice chairpersons for the state's 16 local government areas on Monday.

This ceremony followed the local government elections held on Saturday, organized by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission.

During the oath-taking ceremony at the Government House in Ilorin, Governor Abdulrazaq extended his congratulations to the new council leaders, their families, and all stakeholders involved in their election.

He emphasized the importance of responsible governance, urging the chairpersons to "be prudent with power and work with the people" for the collective benefit of the community.

The governor advised the newly elected officials to set realistic goals, remain aware of their legacies, and prioritize fairness in their actions. He highlighted the current economic challenges facing Nigeria, urging them to be sensitive to these realities and avoid excesses while citizens struggle to meet basic needs.

"As local government areas and the first layer of government," he stated, "be creative, explore areas of cooperation, and complement one another for bigger accomplishments."

In his remarks, Sunday Fagbemi, the party chairman, praised the citizens for their support and commended Governor Abdulrazaq for his commitment to public service.

He described this moment as a significant step towards advancing development in Kwara State.

Majeed Podo, representing the Ilorin South Local Government council, echoed this sentiment, expressing a commitment to work diligently for the welfare of their constituents.
