Gov. Hope Uzodimma has received the support of Mr Tony Umezurike, the only administrator for the Owerri North council area of Imo.

After the first session of the newly finished High Court in the council's Orie-Uratta offices on Monday, Umezurike told reporters this.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Uzodimma is running for governor of Imo on the APC platform for a second term on November 11.

The governor's accomplishments in the council area, including the creation and dedication of the High Court complex, the council chairman claimed, inspired his support of Uzodimma.

Lawyer Umezurike praised the governor for providing the funding for the project's completion and added that the complex's machinery had been installed following the governor's ThreeR motto of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery.

The head of the council claimed that the complex was built in response to the public's plea for a long-term remedy to the dangers involved in going great distances to seek legal services.

“This court has come to stay and will be sitting regularly from October,” he said. He praised the governor for his efforts at infrastructural development, especially the construction and rehabilitation of major roads across the state.

Following the state's charter of equity, he claims that Uzodimma's election to a second term as governor will also open the door for the election of an Imo East senatorial zone native as governor in 2027.

He criticized, however, the locals' continuing encroachment on the council's property and issued a strong warning to those responsible.

Umezurike pleaded with the locals to back Uzodimma in his endeavours so that he could give the populace more democratic benefits. Justice I.G. Chukwunyere, the presiding judge, prayed that all of the work done to establish the court would not be in vain.

“The efforts put here will bring good dividends, especially to the people of Owerri North,” she said. (NAN)
