Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has made it clear that his government has no intention of abolishing the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) that the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu created recently.
This was said by Aiyedatiwa in Akure at a meeting with the ex-LGA and LCDA caretaker committee members.
Ahead of the upcoming local government elections in the State, he stated that the administration will shortly form transition committees for the 18 Local Government Areas and the 33 Local Council Development Areas, adding that the LCDAs is one of late governor Akeredolu's legacies, and it must be upheld
The governor explained to the 255 former appointees, that their inauguration and assumption of office had been delayed by the opposition party's lawsuit, and the ensuing court injunction, although a lot has been done to settle the legal matter through a political settlement approved by the court.
He further stated that transition committees would be established and all mistakes in the list of appointees would be fixed after the matter was ultimately removed from the court.
Aiyedatiwa exhorted the former appointees to show greater loyalty to the party in their local government districts.
“It is important for us to come together as one big family for the progress of the APC and the development of our State,” he said, stressing that there is no division in the party’s leadership.
Engr. Ade Adetimehin, the State APC Chairman, praised the governor for interacting with party members and supported the governor's calls for unity within the party.
Hon. Olaniyi Gbenga and Mrs. Funke Kumuyi, speaking on behalf of others, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the interface and vowed to be loyal and supportive his government.
