Ex-Convict Arrested for Stealing Electronics from Mosque in Osogbo

Tajudeen Ridwan, a 30-year-old ex-convict, has been apprehended by operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps in the Isale Osun area of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, for stealing electronic appliances from a mosque.

According to a statement by Idowu Yusuf, spokesperson for the Amotekun Corps, Ridwan was released from a custodial center in March after serving a four-year jail term for theft-related offenses. Ridwan was reportedly caught in the act by worshippers, who then alerted the Amotekun operatives.

The Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), explained that the suspect had disguised himself as a worshiper to steal an amplifier used for calling worshippers to prayer.

Amotekun operatives were quickly notified and apprehended Ridwan on the spot. During preliminary investigations, Ridwan confessed to being an ex-convict who had just completed his four-year jail term in March for a similar crime.

The suspect has been handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.
