The Independent National Electoral Commission Enugu State Chapter has fixed Saturday, October 5, 2024, for the local government election in the state.

This was revealed in a press statement made available yesterday and signed by the chairman of the commission, Prof. Christian Ngwu.

The statement directed all registered political parties in Enugu to work in line with the date.

Similarly, it was noted that election guidelines and other details could be collected from INEC's headquarters at Independence Layout, Enugu.

It was gathered that the Enugu chapter of the Independent National Electoral Commission postponed the election earlier fixed for February 24, 2024, following a court order requesting it to adjust its original guidelines and timetable published in the official gazette of Enugu State on September 26, 2023.

The postponement was pursuant to an Enugu State High Court judgement delivered by Justice C. O. Ajah in the case of Action Alliance vs. Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission in suit no. E/682/2023.
