The Pan African Women Projects (PAWP), an international election observer group, has urged all African election bodies to follow the lead of the Liberian Election Commission in remaining neutral and sincere.
The disclosure was made by PAWP's head of mission, Dr Eno Udensi in their assessment of the recently concluded Liberian presidential elections.
Udensi praised the chairperson of Liberia's National Electoral Commission, Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, for conducting the most transparent and credible elections in the country's history, calling her the "heroine of African democracy."
She urged other African electoral bodies to imitate the National Electoral Commission of Liberia's transparent procedures for tallying votes and managing data on result portals.
President George Weah was praised by PAWP for having the fortitude to accept defeat. “We commend the sportsmanship approach of President George Weah in accepting defeat even when the electoral commission was still yet to announce the final result. He is an ambassador of peace that deserves an applause in the continent and globally”.
In order to create a prosperous Liberia, the PAWP further urged all Liberians to cooperate with Mr. Joseph Biokai's incoming administration.
The elections on October 10 and the runoff on November 14 in Liberia, according to Dr. Udensi, the head of mission for the Pan African Women Projects organization, which has its headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, represented the will of the people.
The group participated in the recently concluded Imo State gubernatorial election as foreign observers, which they claimed was tainted with irregularities.
