A committee of eight members has been appointed by Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State to coordinate the process of appointing political office holders.

Modupe Adelabu, Paul Omotoso, Alaba Bejide, Olajide Awe, Ronke Okusanya, Bayo Aina, and Lekan Ijidale are the committee's members. George Akosile serves as the committee's chairman.

The committee was mandated by the governor to screen and recommend names of suitable candidates for political appointments after consulting with relevant stakeholders in the state's 16 local government areas.

In addition to paper qualifications, track records, character, competence, compassion, integrity, diligence, and contributions to community development are some of the criteria that can be used.

He stated that because the appointments to the governing councils of state-owned tertiary institutions were guided by established procedures, the committee's work did not include those appointments.

Yinka Oyebode, the media aide to the governor, stated yesterday in Ado-Ekiti that the committee would hold its inaugural meeting on April 3.
