Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed several clubs and lounges in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Saturday, arresting suspected internet fraudsters.

Among those apprehended was a groom-to-be, celebrating his bachelor’s eve with friends at a popular club in Akure.

Sources report that EFCC personnel arrived in multiple vehicles, fired gunshots into the air, and used tear gas during the raids.

One witness recounted, “We were all having fun when EFCC agents suddenly entered the nightclubs. 

They tear-gassed everyone, beat them, and arrested them, not caring who they were. 

They even took away a groom and his friends who were there for his bachelor party.”
