A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the removal of Philip Shuaibu from his position as Deputy Governor of Edo State.

In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that Shuaibu’s impeachment violated the provisions of the law. Justice Omotosho declared that the impeachment and subsequent removal of Shuaibu were against legal provisions.

The court determined that his removal from office by the Edo State House of Assembly on April 8, 2024, was politically motivated and did not adhere to the rule of law.

As a result of this ruling, the court has ordered that Shuaibu be reinstated as the deputy governor of Edo State.
