The Hon. All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain On March 18, Rotimi Makinde has urged Osun residents to vote for the party's candidates for Assembly.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to the media on Friday, Makinde, who represented the Ife Federal constituency at the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015, added that a vote for the APC will help strengthen the party's support base and provide Gboyega Oyetola with the opportunity to perfect and perform his executive functions when he eventually reclaims his stolen mandate.

“My dear party members, I humbly appeal to you all to prioritize the upcoming Osun State Assembly election and use it as a foundation to rebuild our party in Osun State with the serious intention of securing the upcoming government by God's grace. For the sake of our ancestors, let us band together and work as a team. We should not begin to assign blame to any member of the party at this time. To ensure a landslide victory for each of our candidates, we must therefore forego any disagreements and prepare to approach the election holistically.

Makinde also expressed confidence in Tinubu's "ability and willingness to alleviate the current hardship in the country as a result of naira scarcity," as well.

He stated, "We are calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission to create a level playing field for all candidates in the state House of Assembly elections, better than they did for candidates during the February 25 presidential election," while urging INEC to act as an impartial election official.

He also urged members of the APC to "sustain the momentum and canvass for votes from all eligible voters to guarantee the success of the party in Saturday's House of Assembly elections," and he expressed optimism that the APC would also win the election on Saturday.
