Duffuor Assures Ghanaians of a Rapid Economy Recovery in 2 Years

Duffuor’s Reveals 2-year Plan to Jumpstart Ghana’s Economy

Hopeful flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Kwabena Duffuor promises to revive the faltering Ghanaian economy within two years if elected president in 2024.

“The bush rat does not go out in the afternoon but when it does, there is a problem. That is why I’m out to solve that problem”, he told hundreds of delegates who had gathered at the Afienya Youth Training Institute.

“I’m in the contest because I want to take you out of the current economic challenges. We are hungry as Ghanaians despite the abundance of resources”, he added.

Dr Duffuor’s plan for economic recovery by 2026 reads;

“In my first year, the dollar will go down and the cedi will rise again to make the economy more robust. Then in the second year, growth will accelerate.”

Although Ghana is a significant exporter of cocoa and gold, he claimed that the country is currently experiencing its worst financial crisis in decades, with inflation hovering at a record 50.3 percent, the worst level in 21 years. The cost of living in Ghana continues to rise at an intolerably high rate as inflation soars.

In a recent speech to the nation, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged that the nation is in trouble and blamed it on outside shocks, specifically the Covid-19 outbreak and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Notwithstanding this unsettling backdrop, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, who served as Finance Minister under the John Evans Atta-Mills administration, claims that if he is elected president, his plan to bring the nation prosperity will materialize within two years.

“We have done it before under Prof. Atta-Mills and we can do it again”, he told the delegates.

In 2011, exactly two years after Dr. Duffuor assumed his position as Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Ghana experienced its best GDP growth rate of 14.4%.

At a time when the nation's economy is experiencing severe difficulties, he suddenly wants to be president.

Dr. Duffour is visiting Ningo Prampram, Kpone Katamanso, Tema West, Tema East, Tema Central, Krowor, and Ledzekuku as part of his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region.
