Retired Brig.-Gen. Osun Amotekun Corps Commander Bashir Adewinmbi claimed that he was detained on Wednesday in response to numerous complaints.
Adewinmbi revealed that the attackers mostly operate on their own and frequently use cutlasses and charms to target town residents.
He admitted during questioning that he had behaved in an unruly manner and had agitated the community. He begged for repentance.
The suspect has been turned over to the Osun police command for additional investigation and prosecution.
Adewinmbi stated that the law would take its full course against anyone caught committing violence, urging residents to be vigilant.
The retired general praised locals for providing Amotekun with information, stating that their assistance had contributed to the reduction of crime and the arrest of criminals.
