The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has also congratulated Gov Otti over the victory.

As soon as the news of the Supreme Court ruling filtered in, jubilations erupted in the state, reminiscent of when INEC declared Otti winner of the governorship election.

In Umuahia, the state capital, many were seen in beer parlors, drinking and celebrating the victory of Otti at the Supreme Court.

Joseph Okiyi, a tricycle rider said his joy knew no bounds over the Supreme Court verdict. He said he was particularly happy that those that were rejected at the polls by the people, did not get to power through the back door.

Meanwhile, some civil servants equally expressed their joy over the Supreme Court judgment.

Reports from Aba, Ohafia and other parts of the state indicated that the jubilations were also spontaneous in those communities, as people were said to have gathered in groups to celebrate the Supreme Court ruling.

Also, Abia State PDP has congratulated Otti over the affirmation of his victory by the Supreme Court.

In a statement signed by Abraham Amah, the vice Chairman, Abia North and state acting Publicity Secretary, the party said, “The Abia PDP also congratulates Governor Alex Otti on his victory at the Supreme Court. The decision of the Supreme Court upholding your declaration as the validly elected governor of Abia State has brought the case to an end.”

The statement urged members of the PDP in the state in particular and people of Abia in general to support the Otti government and ensure they hold it accountable at all times.
