Instead of taking the long walk, the Governor-elect requested that they pray for creativity and direction for his leadership as he works to deliver the benefits of democracy.

Abba Kabir Yusuf, also known as Abba Gida-Gida, the newly elected governor of Kano State, has urged individuals who are now travelling to Kano from other areas of the nation to halt their trek.

Remember that a young man began walking from Suleja in Niger State to welcome Kano's new governor.

In response, Abba stated on Wednesday through his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, saying that prayers were adequate as a display of unity and celebration of his election victory, rather than miles of hiking, especially considering the country's state of insecurity.

He said, “While thanking the supporters within and outside Kano State, the Governor-elect urged the trekkers to discontinue the journey as that may not reasonably contribute to solving lots of economic and social challenges awaiting the incoming government after taking over on May 29, 2023.

"The incoming Kano State government will be committed to a greater future of the people with security, health, education, economic, infrastructure and good welfare for aged, civil servants and private sector being the anthem of Engr. Abba led the government.

“As a Kano people-centred Governor, Engr. Abba tasked all hands to be on deck towards ensuring the actualisation of Kwankwasiyya and the NNPP vision for the responsive leadership that works for all in the State.”
