It’s crucial to get your needs met before leaving to the NYSC camp as it would help to save your time, money and equally help to prevent embarassment.
I went grocery shopping a day after seeing my call up letter and bought a lot of my needs.
Which include the following;
Packs of Cabin biscuit, Rolls of sachet milk, Rolls of sachet milo, Rolls of sachet golden mourn, Sugar, Deodorant, Body cream, Underwear, Waist bag, Pad, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Detergent, Touch, Bathing soap, Keys, Bucket, Dettol, garri And Groundnut.
I know one would think of why I added ‘garri’ to my list.
What would be the fate of a Nigerian leaving home to a place where he or she won’t have access to a kitchen without garri?
The garri has been saving lives since time immemorial. You Know!
It’s funny right? But that’s the fact if you enjoy drinking garri like myself.
Additionally, I equally bought some NYSC kits which I would need in camp like, white round neck shirts, white shorts, white socks, a white hand glove and white canvas. Then, I was contemplating whether to buy leather or rubber canvas though I was confused on which one to go for. Later, I decided to buy rubber because it had started raining and rubber would be more convenient since it was the rainy season.
Henceforth, Rubber has a dual advantage as one could use it on rainy days and equally in the sun without it getting spoilt.
I still wanted to buy leather but something made me change my mind, the thought of having enough money at hand during camping as I had read people’s stories about how difficult life is in camp through the NYSC group on Facebook.
Also, I braided my hair a day before embarking on my journey to ‘Asaya camp, Kogi state.’
However, I decided to choose bob braids as it’s a simple hair style which would last for the period of 3 weeks, exactly the period that is spent in camp. Bob braid is a simple hair style that could fit virtually everyone and also allow one to move freely or participate in every activity without much stress.
Essential Documents Needed for Registration at the Orientation Camp
Conclusively, I equally gathered the documents I needed for further registration in camp like, 5 photo copies of my call up letter, 5 copies of my passport photograph, 5 photo copies of my medical certificate, 5 photo copies of my school identity card and photo copies of my green card.
It's necessary for one to take the above documents mentioned, together with their original copies when going to the orientation camp as they are necessary.
