Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government will reveal the Immigration Levels Plan for 2024-2026, a tradition in non-election years.

According to CIC news, the Immigration Levels Plan serves as a blueprint for determining the number of new permanent residents to be admitted into Canada over the next three years across three immigration categories: economic, family, and humanitarian, which aligns with the mission of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to boost Canada's economy, reunite families, and provide a safe haven for those escaping oppression or other humanitarian crises.

In 2022, Canada reached a record-breaking 437,000 new immigrants, with the target for permanent resident admissions in 2023 raised to 465,000. The Immigration Levels Plan for 2024-2026 will be announced alongside a new strategy aimed at modernizing Canada's immigration system.

Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller acknowledged the existing shortcomings in the country's immigration system and outlined the key objectives of the new strategy, titled 'An Immigration System for Canada's Future", with a focus on creating a more welcoming experience for newcomers, aligning immigration with labor market demands, and establishing a comprehensive and coordinated growth plan.

Additionally, IRCC is pledge to improve the overall experience for its clients, making it more user-friendly and pleasant. The agency seeks to better harmonize Canada's immigration newcomer population.
