"They don't understand English", Corper Posted to North Cries Out

A NYSC member, identified as @emma_oniru on TikTok, shared his experience grappling with a language barrier during his initial day at his assigned school in one of the Northern states.

In a TikTok video posted by Emma, he documented his interaction with the students he encountered at the principal's office. As he tried to communicate with the students in English, he quickly realized that they were unable to understand or respond in the language.

In the video, Emma can be seen inquiring about the whereabouts of the principal, only to receive non-verbal responses as the students pointed to the principal's desk. Amid this interaction, one student managed to utter the words, "No English!" – leaving Emma surprised and somewhat bewildered by the situation.

Captioning the video, Emma expressed his initial surprise and frustration, sharing, "My first day at work. See my PPA (Place of Primary Assignment) students," highlighting the unexpected language barrier that posed a challenge for communication.

The video quickly gained traction on TikTok, prompting various reactions from viewers who found the situation amusing. Some users shared their own lighthearted commentary on the incident, showcasing a mix of surprise, humor, and empathy for the corps member's predicament.
