Report says, the killers disguised themselves as worshippers, killing lots of people who had gone to worship in the church (children were not left out as the assasilant killed both old and young worshippers during the attack).

The members of the church thank God for preserving their lives and prayed for the repose of the souls of their members who died during the attack.

The St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, reopened for services on Easter Sunday April 9th, that’s exactly ten months after a deadly attack left about 40 worshippers dead and several others injured.

Most Revered Jude Arogundade, the Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese called on the Federal Government of Nigeria during the reopening to be alive to their responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.

He stated that, “the government of Nigeria has failed them, adding that it’s their duty to protect the lives and properties of the masses” he expressed grief how quickly the country moved on after the attack.

“The government must take action to show strength and courage, and make sure those who carried out the evil which took place in this church and those carrying out the evils that are going on in this country should be cautioned and punished accordingly,” said the clergy.

The Bishop stated, the parishioners especially those who witnessed the attack, returning to the same church came with mixed feelings. They recalled how the attack happened and called on the government to deal with insecurity in the country.
