Popular Nigerian Singer and composer Victor Adere, better known by his stage as Victor AD, has disputed a BBC Africa Eye documentary that accused late Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) founder TB Joshua of several crimes, including stage miracles and sexually abusing his female followers.

The musician, whose family has been SCOAN members since he was six years old, took to X on Wednesday to defend the deceased man of God.

In a three-part expose on the late televangelist's purported secret life, aired on YouTube under the title "Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua," the BBC interviewed no fewer than 30 former SCOAN members.

The responders reported specific cases of abuse, harassment, rape, manipulation, and faked miracles. They further alleged that the church was aware of all the charges but did not investigate them. They claim that the sexual crimes occurred over two decades.

However, Victor AD, who rose to stardom with the track 'Wetin We Gain' in 2018, has denied the BBC Africa Eye's accusation, citing occasions where TB Joshua's intervention provided relief to individuals.

The singer also mentioned his recovery from skin disease at the age of six, his mother's recovery from a gunshot wound that was expected to result in amputation, and his sister's regaining sight during her elementary school years.

The singer, who wrote in Pidgin English, said on X, “So many wonderful deeds!! Which of these are fake or staged? When my family and I were homeless, he gave us shelter and fed us. God is not a man.”

Unconcerned with the claims, Victor AD added, “Say whatever you like. It won’t change the fact that God is God.”

In the meantime, a widely shared video showed Victor AD trying to heal his mother via video conference. He did this by pouring what he called "anointing water" from the church on his phone screen and yelling, "Be healed," when he saw his mother's broken hand.

On the other hand, In response to the BBC documentary, the SCOAN, called the accusations baseless and charged that the news outlet had not adhered to the fundamentals of journalism while publishing its stories.

The church said in a statement signed by Mr Dare Adejumo, its public affairs director, that while conducting investigations and publishing or broadcasting reports is a basic aspect of journalism, doing so in violation of the ethics and core values of the field is abnormal.
