Winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, widely known as Phyna, has sparked fresh conversations online after she openly revealed she has undergone cosmetic surgery.
Phyna, who is also known as an actress, model, and fashion enthusiast, shared her experience on social media, posting clips and comments after her first post-surgery massage.
The reality TV star's decision comes just weeks after the tragic death of socialite Elena Jessica, who reportedly passed away from complications from a second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure.
Jessica’s demise has heightened public concerns about the risks of cosmetic surgery in Nigeria, including a stern warning from cosmetic surgeon and founder of CGE Healthcare, Chidinma ‘Dr Dinma’ Akpa, who urged women not to succumb to social or peer pressure when considering cosmetic procedures.
The doctor revealed that body enhancements, including BBLs, should always be a personal choice and never something one feels compelled to pursue.
Phyna, in a post, declared she had no regrets about the procedure and described her experience with excitement, noting changes in her body after surgery.
She wrote, “First massage. Now I understand why people don’t shut up about it… Finally did it. No regrets."
The actress also reacted to her new look, saying her body felt more “snatched” and joking about her flat stomach transformation.
“This is my first massage… my belly snatched sha. Everybody should go and hide,” she joked in one of her videos.
Phyna, who once called out a fellow reality star, Chichi, over cosmetic procedures, also reflected on her gym experience, stressing that workouts no longer deliver the same results compared to surgery.
In a separate update, she described waking up after her first post-op massage as intense but worth it, stating she was happy with what she saw in the mirror.
The trend of cosmetic enhancements, particularly Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs), has become very popular in Nigeria.
The procedure involves liposuction to remove fat from other areas of the body, like the abdomen, thighs, or flanks, and transferring it to the buttocks for a fuller shape.
The trend has continued to grow in Nigeria's entertainment industry, with many celebrities reportedly undergoing similar procedures.
