In a statement released by the university's Information Officer, Malam Umar Usman, the institution advised students to move either to Gusau metropolis or the Sabon Gida area, both of which are now under enhanced security provided by armed security personnel.

This cautionary measure comes in the wake of the recent kidnapping incident on Saturday when four students were abducted from their off-campus residence in Damba. However, it is worth noting that troops from Operation Hadarin Daji and those of Metro Joint Patrol (Eagle Eye) successfully rescued all four students.

Umar Usman noted that students residing on the outskirts of Gusau, particularly those in Damba, are at a higher risk of being targeted by bandit attacks.

It is a matter of grave concern as, previously, 25 students from the university were abducted along with nine construction workers on the outskirts of Gusau on September 21, and regrettably, twelve of these victims are still held in captivity.
