Boluwatife Adedokun

A Delta State High Court in Kwale has sentenced Joshua Anamali, 25, and Nelson Adoh, 30, to 10 years imprisonment for possessing cut-to-size single-barrel guns.

The men were arrested by police officers during a stop-and-search operation on January 27, 2021, in the Ndemili community, where the firearms were recovered from them.

Justice O. Enenmo, the trial judge, reviewed the prosecution and defense cases, finding the men guilty of illegal possession of firearms.

The prosecuting counsel, Mrs. Catherine Oboreruomo, presented the state's case with two witnesses testifying against the defendants, who defended themselves. After the judgment, Oboreruomo advised young people to shun crime, stating that its consequences are condemnation and destruction.
