Tinubu, Security Chiefs Meet As Nationwide Hunger Protests Persist

President Bola Tinubu, held a closed-door meeting with the heads of security and paramilitary agencies at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.

The meeting coincides with current widespread protests over hunger and economic suffering in the country. In a national broadcast on Sunday, President Tinubu condemned the violence and looting carried out by hoodlums who had infiltrated the protest.

President Tinubu further directed security agencies to ensure public order and the security of lives and properties while urging the protesters to suspend their protests and encourage dialogue.

The meeting had in attendance the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, alongside the service chiefs and other top military and paramilitary heads.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun were also present.
