President Bola Tinubu has instructed the comprehensive execution of the Oronsaye report, resulting in the merging, restructuring, elimination, and relocation of various governmental agencies.

This decision was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

The initiative, championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aims to streamline operations for the betterment of Nigeria.

A committee has been formed under Tinubu's Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Mrs. Hadiza Bala-Usman, to oversee these changes within a 12-week timeframe.

The Oronsaye report, commissioned in 2012, highlighted the excessive number of Federal Government parastatals, with recommendations to reduce their count significantly.

These recommendations include merging, scrapping, or reverting certain entities to departments within ministries.

Notably, the report suggests repealing the law establishing the National Salaries and Wages Commission and consolidating the functions of certain anti-corruption agencies. An analysis indicates substantial potential savings for the Nigerian Government if the report's proposals are implemented effectively.
