A staff of Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife, Oyetunde Kazeem where a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Timothy Adegoke was killed denied in the high court yesterday that he didn't steal any belongings of the deceased after he was dumped in the bush.
In the High Court on Thursday, Kazeem appeared as a witness before Justice Adeleke Ojo.
Kazeem, a witness, said the owner of the hotel, Raymon Adedoyin, was out of the hotel when Timothy lodged at the hotel.
He noted that the Managing Director at the hotel, Raheem asked Kazeem and two other staff to accompany him in taking the corpse to the mortuary.
He noted that it was on their way that Raheem parked and dumped Adegoke's corpse with his laptop, vivo phone, bag and money beside him.
While denying the allegation that he conspired with Adedoyin Rahman to administer an extra judicial oath on other workers of the hotel, Kazeem affirmed that he didn't take any oath nor steal any belongings or dump any corpse.
While being cross-examined by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, the witness denied that he didn't drive any Hilux vehicle that was used to convey Adegoke's corpse to the dumping site in Abuja, adding that the vehicle belonged to Raheem.
Meanwhile, the presiding Chief Judge of the state adjourned the matter till Friday, December 16, 2022, for the continuation of hearing.
Recall that Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, died in Hilton Hotel Ile-Ife on November 7, 2021 .
His family raised alarm when they thought he was missing, and the police began Investigation, and the hotel owner was arrested, Rahmon Adedoyin and other employees.
After the arrest, the suspects were in the high court undergoing trial.
A defendant, Aderogba, had said that Raheem Adedoyin told him that the death of Timothy Adegoke had been reported to the police, and the police told them to take the corpse to the mortuary.
Raheem Adedoyin and an employee, Kazeem Oyetunde carried the corpse in a Hilux vehicle and drove to Ede Road, where the lifeless body was dumped together with his laptop, phone and bag.
The court had cross-examined the suspects in different hearings. On May 27, Mr. M. O Omosun, who held the brief of Mr.Femi Falana (SAN) for the prosecution asked Aderogba, a suspect, if he could inform anybody when he found the dead body of Adegoke, and he said he informed the owner of the hotel.
He was also asked if he saw blood coming out of the nose of the deceased, which he denied, that he had already said what he saw when he met his corpse in the room.
Aderogba had admitted that the CCTV in the hotel was disconnected by the owner of the hotel, Raheem Adedoyin after the death of Adegoke.
Moreoso, the receptionist in the hotel, Magdalene Chiefuna told the court that the management of the hotel warned all staff members to delete pictures taken on their phone and to keep the happening a secret.
