Fear gripped Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, as clashes erupted between members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Ogun State Parks and Garages Management Board (OGSPAM) over revenue collection.

The conflict stemmed from the alleged attempt by the reinstated NURTW leadership, led by Alhaji Ismail Adewale (Yaro), to take over revenue collection from motor parks, despite it being OGSPAM's turn.

The state government had previously suspended NURTW activities, leading to the creation of OGSPAM.

Efforts to foster peace through revenue rotation among NURTW, OGSPAM, and RTEAN were disrupted when the transport commissioner directed OGSPAM to step down in favor of NURTW.

Heavy police presence was observed at motor parks to prevent further escalation.
