TCN Denies Planned Two-Month Power Outage in Ondo and Ekiti States

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has denied reports of a planned two-month power outage on the Osogbo-Akure-Ado-Ekiti 132kV transmission line.

This denial follows an announcement by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) that TCN would conduct critical maintenance work, causing daily power outages from July 1 to August 31.

BEDC had previously issued a public notice stating that the maintenance, involving the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW), would require outages to ensure safe working conditions. The notice had warned consumers in Ondo and Ekiti states of nine-hour daily service interruptions and apologized for the inconvenience.

However, in a statement released on Monday morning, TCN refuted these claims. Signed by TCN General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the statement clarified to the general public that no such outage request has been approved.
