Student Passes on as Fire Guts Anambra Seminary School

The school principal, Ven. Dr. Emendu, who received the fire chief, explained how the fire affected a part of the school’s hostel, destroyed everything, and left one dead.

One student died, and several properties were damaged when a fire broke out at the Bishop Crowther Memorial Seminary School, Awka, Anambra State capital, on Saturday night. 

The cause of the fire which happened around 11:30 pm on Saturday, has yet to be ascertained. It was also noted that the fire destroyed the school’s hostel, including mattresses and other students’ valuables. 

The victim, a student who passed away in the incident, was said to have been taken to a mortuary. Confirming the incident through a social media statement from the Media Unit of Anambra State Fire Service, yesterday, May 20, 2024, the state Fire Service Chief, Chukwudi Chiketa, affirmed that firefighters and a fire truck were deployed instantly to the scene of the incident and the fire was contained. 

According to the press statement, the fire chief visited the school on Sunday for inspection, where the principal explained how the fire affected a part of the school’s hostel.
