Prominent stakeholders in Abia State are urging Governor Alex Otti to widen the roads built in Aba by Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu during his tenure as Abia Governor between 1999 and 2007.

Chief Samuel Okorie, a famous community leader in Obingwa, spoke to journalists on Easter Saturday, expressing his concern that the abandonment of the ring roads in Aba, which Kalu constructed between 1999 and 2007, contributed to the poor outlook of Aba. He complained that after Kalu's tenure as governor, his successors neither invested in new roads nor maintained the ones that were already in place.

He stated, "That's why we will no longer keep quiet and watch other roads go bad. We call on Governor Otti to consider revisiting all those roads that were constructed but abandoned. The government is continuity, and for us to enjoy Aba again, there should be rehabilitation and expansion."

Dr. Ogwo Sylvester Ogwo, President of the Abia Renaissance Forum, also appealed to Governor Otti to enlarge more roads in Aba for easy access. He affirmed that the government needs to find ways to expand and rehabilitate access roads. Ogwo stated, "It is important to note that the government has commenced a plan to enhance transport and businesses in Aba. This is specifically in the area of access roads, which are key to whatever we will do in Aba."
