Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima on Tuesday inaugurated the Bukar Goni Aji-led 37-man Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage at the State House, Abuja.

The committee is tasked with the responsibility of proposing a new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

It has representatives of the federal and state governments, the private sector, and the organized Labour.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Shettima urged collective bargaining in good faith, emphasizing contract adherence and encouraging consultations outside the committee.

He further advised the committee members to promptly reach a resolution and submit their reports.

The move follows concerns from organized labor over the delay in forming the committee promised during negotiations in October.
