Senate President Akpabio Appoints New Chief of Staff

Akabueze will succeed Sylvester Okonkwo, who has been appointed as the Executive Director of the newly set up South-East Development Commission.

The Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has appointed Chinedu Akabueze, the outgoing Clerk of the Senate, as the new Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate.

Akabueze will assume the role of Chief of Staff, succeeding Sylvester Okonkwo, who has been appointed as the Executive Director of the newly set up South East Development Commission.

Akabueze is retiring from his position as Senate Clerk after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60. It was gathered that he started serving as Senate Clerk since March 4, 2022. 

The National Assembly Service Commission has further approved the appointment of Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate, effective December 11, 2024.
