Prince Femi Omoniyi of the Bilagbayo Ruling House has urged the kingmakers of Ijesaland to uphold fairness and transparency in selecting the next Owa Obokun.

This call comes in the wake of the passing of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, who died on September 13, 2024, at the age of 87.

As the traditional council begins deliberations on the succession, Prince Omoniyi released a statement on Wednesday, urging the kingmakers to follow due process and resist any attempts to influence the process unjustly.

He stressed the importance of ensuring a swift and transparent selection to prevent a prolonged vacancy on the throne and cautioned members of the Bilaro Ruling House against premature campaigns. Omoniyi also highlighted the need for unity and the prioritization of Ijesaland’s overall well-being throughout the process.

“Ijesaland is a symbol of integrity and diligence," Omoniyi stated, "and choosing the wrong candidate for the Owa Obokun throne could further divide the region and disrupt the peace and harmony that currently exists.”
