The Lagos State Police has detained Afrobeats vocalist, Seun Kuti over a supposed attack on a cop throughout the end of the week.

Benjamin Hundenyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, issued a statement on Monday under his official Twitter handle to confirm this.

According to the PPRO, "Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative in the early hours of today." He has been taken into custody.

Vanguard reported that police stormed the Afrobeat musician's Lagos apartment and the African shrine in the Ikeja area of Lagos to arrest him following the Inspector-General of Police order for his arrest for assaulting a policeman on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.

It was also learned that on Saturday night and Sunday morning, police officers were at Seun's house but did not meet him.

A source had let Vanguard know that endeavors were being made to secure Seun, who is thought to have self-isolated.

This came as the Police Administration Commission, PSC, yesterday, censured the attack of a Cop in uniform and on true obligation in Lagos by Seun.

PSC praised Baba Usman Alkali, the Inspector General of Police, for quickly directing Seun's arrest and prosecution.
