Group calls for the LG chairman's removal, Three royal fathers and a councilor from Girei Local Council of Adamawa State.

Reports say they are in the police custody for allegedly diverting and selling 90 bags of rice meant for Tambo Ward as palliatives.

The suspects are as the following:

Julius Kati, Village Head of Jifan; Genesis Phanuel, Village Head of Bakopi; Idi Wakilu, Village Head of Tambo and Thomas Jada, the councilor representing Tambo Ward in Girei.

However, elders in Tambo have asked Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to remove the local council chairman, Judah Amisa, accusing him of masterminding the diversion of the palliatives.

Spokesman for the group, Phanuel Peters, affirms the diversion could not have taken place without the consent of the chairman, since he is from Tambo.

However, the group urged the governor to remove the chairman for free and transparent investigation into the scandal, which, it said, is designed to undermine the efforts of the governor to help the suffering of Adamawa citizens.

When the chairman was contacted, he denied the allegation.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Suleiman Nguroje, the DPO of Girei confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

It was gathered that the investigation was still ongoing to get all those involved in the matter.
